Why Learn Kathak?

Kathak is more than just dance—it is a journey of expression, rhythm, and storytelling. Originating from the ancient Kathakars (storytellers) of North India, Kathak has evolved into an elegant yet powerful art form, blending graceful movements, intricate footwork, and expressive storytelling.

My mission is to create a space where students can connect with this rich tradition while experiencing the joy of movement and artistic expression. Whether you’re looking to explore a new passion, enhance your skills, or perform on stage, I am here to guide you every step of the way.

About Me

Akshaya Surve

Kathak has been my passion and purpose for as long as I can remember. My journey began at a young age, and over the years, I have dedicated myself to mastering this art under the guidance of my Guru, Pt. Mayur Vaidya.

Having trained extensively in both Banaras and Lucknow Gharanas, I am honored to now share my knowledge with aspiring dancers in Canada. My goal is to nurture a deep connection to this classical dance form, making it both accessible and enriching for students from all backgrounds.
